FAQ
What is an edit?A video edit in this context is largely referring to Tiktok-style edits and fancams, but can be a range of different styles, including but not limited to: AMVs, PMVs, animatics, etc. This event was inspired in particular by seeing edits of Dimension 20 NPCs with Brennan, and wondering how it would look if those scenes had been redrawn with that NPC instead! (i.e. what would edits look like if D20 was an animated show?)But there's no formal rules around what kind of video you make, we only ask that you make sure to collaborate with your partner as best you can! Otherwise, go nuts! How do pairings work? When you fill out the sign-up form, you'll be asked questions like what seasons, characters, or pairings you'd like to draw/edit for. If you're an editor, you'll then be paired up with an artist who has similar interests, and vice versa! If we run into an issue of having more artists than editors, or vice versa, we will either be assigning multiple artists to an editor, or multiple editors to an artist. (We understand the latter can be a heavy workload; we'll make sure to communicate expectations if that happens.)Can I join if I'm new to editing/drawing?Absolutely! This is open to everyone, there's no application process. There'll be a range of experience from people involved, and people will be happy to offer help or advice if you need any.Can I join the Discord server if I'm not sure if I'm going to be participating yet?Yes! The Discord server is for anyone who's interested in the event and wants to stay updated, even if you don't end up signing up.Where should we begin on collaborating something like this?We encourage that you spend the first week brainstorming ideas, settling on audio/concepts that you both like, and then coming up with a template or storyboard. Whether that is the editor making a template draft of the edit first with clips for the artist to redraw/reanimate, or an artist storyboarding the shots for an editor to then stitch together, is up to you! Make sure you communicate what you think will be feasible in a month; different artists/editors will have different capabilities. Can we make multiple videos/parts?If you and your partner think it's feasible, absolutely! How do I post my edit? When it's time for the reveal, simply decide on which one of you will post it on social media with the hashtag #D20AxE and tag your partner! We'll share it around and boost it on our accounts!I can't contact my partner/my partner's ghosted me!If your partner isn't replying within a couple days, please let us know ASAP and we'll do our best to pair you up with a pinch-hitter.I have to drop out and can't finish my art/edit.Please let us and your partner know ASAP if you're dropping out, and we'll do your best to make sure a pinch-hitter can cover the job.If you're just running late, still let us know; we'll have a grace period for the deadline even if you miss the initial reveal.
